Mount Lawley looking fabulous

December 1st, 2010

After weeks of hard work and a combined effort from our entire team the Mount Lawley refurbishment has finally finished and it looks fabulous! The overall feel of the store is similar to our Claremont fit out but with a bit of Mount Lawley edge!

Over the past few years Beaufort Street has built its reputation on providing the Perth public with fine dining restaurants, delightful wine bars, increasingly popular cafes and a variety of unique fashion boutiques.

We thought this would be the best place to open our second store especially as the Beaufort Street vibe is not slowing down anytime soon, with a number of new bars and stores set to open shortly, it truly is becoming a Perth Hot spot!

Daisy & Charlie opens in Mount Lawley

November 4th, 2010

Our second store, at 591 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley, is now open! The store will be undergoing a complete refurbishment over the next month, however we decided we would spontaneously open prior to the refurbishment.

We have a mural arriving from Italy any day now that will cover the entire right hand wall, created by the same artist who designed the mural in Claremont.

Daisy & Charlie Mount Lawley will be holding a fashion parade in the Beaufort Street Festival at the end of November so watch this space for more details!

Accessories! Accessories! Accessories!

September 11th, 2010

It is dumbfounding when I look through my wardrobe and in front of me is a mass of black. Dresses, blazers, pants, blouses, shoes, scarves…I could go on.

I find this is a common theme for most women, we justify buying black as it seems to be a ‘safe’ colour and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! My thoughts are complement the black dress with brightly coloured accessories, it is amazing the influence accessories can have on an outfit.

Jewellery labels such as Lucas Jack are getting a lot of media attention particularly in the UK and being featured in nearly every English glossy magazine on the market! This Spring we are celebrating everything accessories!

Lucas Jack

Englishman Nic Bartley decided his job in corporate banking was lacking excitement, so in 2006 he created a jewellery label and named it after his three year old nephew, Lucas Jack. With no formal training in design, Nic sources recycled scraps to ensure the production of his jewellery is ethical and fair trade, each item is 18 carat gold which is brushed to produce a rich satin finish.

A percentage of all online sales are donated to charity which provides food, shelter and education to disadvantaged children.

Mink Jewellery

Melbournian Tammy Kanat created this jewellery label in 2001 designing pieces for individuals whose understated elegance and style ensures they always stand out in a crowd. A collection of playful everyday pieces feature an array of bright colours, whilst artistic designs embodies a whimsical charm and combines it with a modern edge, bringing a touch of magic and stylish elegance to any outfit.

Leigh & Luca

A dynamic duo of Australian Entrepreneur Gillian Leigh and award-winning European fashion designer Sussan Luca created a fashion phenomenon with their stunning collection of scarves that fuse energy, style and passion together to create highly addictive expressions of individual style.

Inspiration for each collection is drawn from exotic Asian and African cultures where a less structured approach is taken to the design. Each piece is woven on antique wooden looms using the highest quality cashmeres, silks and cottons.

High profile celebrities who have been seen wearing this label are Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Cameron Diaz and Naomi Watts.

Perth fashion scene coming alive again

September 11th, 2010

September is the time for the Perth fashion scene to come alive again, just in time for the social bedlam of the summer months. It is hard not to get swept up in the excitement of labels launching their Spring collections, the build up to the Perth Fashion Festival and the realisation that the quest to find the perfect Spring Racing Carnival dress is just around the corner.

There are three labels that are currently receiving great coverage within the international fashion circles and all for very different reasons; Rebecca Taylor, Simone and Bernshaw. All which have arrived in store!

Rebecca Taylor

Born in New Zealand but having lived and worked out of New York for the past 20 years Rebecca Taylor launched her label The Rebecca Taylor collection in 1996. The collection has become renowned for providing the eternally evolving modern girl with fresh, feminine clothing to compliment and refine her individual sense of style.

Rebecca Taylor’s signature silk print dresses have become a beloved and iconic fashion piece in the USA particularly recognised for her immaculate attention to detail and contrasting use of over the top bright colours mixed in with muted neutral tones.

Rebecca Taylor specialises in creating garments which appear worn and pre loved. These distressed fabrics combined with the soft use of cashmere wool, faux furs and down quilted coats give the collection an essence of modern femininity.

Simone

Created in 2006, this label begun as its founder, actress Katie Simone Nehra, had pieces and garments that she had always dreamt of but could never find. To begin with Katie only designed dresses, each one made was named after one of her closest friends.

The dresses were so well received that the label now has extended their collection to designing tops and jackets. Katie Simone Nehra resides in Los Angeles and juggles between her fashion line and acting career, Katie has appeared in numerous New York theatre productions and films throughout her career.

Her label is stocked in America, Israel, Japan, China, UK, Belgium and now it will be stocked in Australia.

Bernshaw

Sara Bernshaw is one of the leading English evening wear designers. Sara is the Design Director of Bernshaw, a firm which was started by her Grandfather in the 1940’s. The signature dress from her latest collection draws inspiration from the era of 50’s Hollywood glamour.

The patented fabric used to create this signature piece works hard at defining the female shape in a bandage style design that works at creating the illusion of a smaller figure.

Bernshaw’s latest collection has received much attention and media coverage over the UK, being featured in many of the top fashion magazines.

Classic crisp white shirt

August 2nd, 2010

There is nothing more feminine than a woman in a classic crisp white shirt. A timeless wardrobe essential, one of only very few garments that can be worn from season to season, year in and year out, without dating.

Canadian born designer Sara Roka, designed a collection inspired solely around a basic style that she had always cherished: the men’s classic button down shirt. Her feminine take on a man style business shirt shot her label, Sara Roka, to international fame with recognition earlier this year after her new season showing in Milan.

Sara Roka classic white shirt

Whether it be worn with denim jeans and a blazer or as pictured with white shorts and a belt, a white shirt is a staple for summer, winter, autumn or spring.

Sara Roka comments on this classic style: “I have always loved the shirt as it has many faces. It can be dressed down or dressed up, worn with anything, worn everywhere; beach, dinner, dancing, formal, work, or relax.

“When faced with having to make a quick decision on what to wear, the shirt is the easiest way to be sophisticated and casual at the same time. The shirt is great for every occasion, and the perfect canvas for accessories and one woman’s personality to show through.”

What more could you ask for in a garment?
